How To Mute Words on Twitter

An overview:

  1. Muting is not cased sensitive. For instance, if you mute “BAGS”, ”bags” will also be added to your muted list.

  3. To mute Tweet notifications, Tweet replies or Tweets in the Home timeline, or tweets that mention a particular account, you must include the @ sign before the name. Doing this will mute Tweets notifications that mention that account, but it will surely not mute itself.
  4. If you mute a word, its hashtag is also automatically muted. For example, if you mute ”rabbit” then ”#rabbit” will also be muted.
  5. Words, usernames, phrases, hashtags, emojis up to the max character count can be muted.
  6. Muting is possible in all languages across Twitter.
  7. You can view a list of your muted words and unmute them again in your settings.
  8. Muting by default is set to the period of Forever. Instructions on how to adjust the mute period are listed below for supported devices.
