Newsvideos for everyone!

Since the beginning of YouTube time, so-called news channels have been part of the standard. They report on the happenings of the YouTube scene and summarize the latest topics in a short and concise way. At the time, the channel “MrTrashpack” filled exactly from this niche profit and build up quite quickly a larger community. Nowadays there are a lot of competitors in the news scene and this is therefore a highly competitive field: However, very few of today’s viewers might know who is actually behind the channel “MrTrashpack” or how its development started.

The real name of the operator and protagonist of the channel “MrTrashpack” is Phillip Betz. However, his colleagues and friends usually only call him by his nickname Phil. Phil was born on 12 October 1989 and is therefore already 31 years old.

Generally speaking, “MrTrashpack” is a German-speaking YouTuber and web video producer whose videos are mainly in the news genre.

Phil founded the channel “MrTrashpack” already on September 28th 2009. For this reason, the channel “MrTrashpack” and also the person behind it is considered by many as a kind of veteran of the German YouTube scene because he has long experience with the scene. The first video on the channel appeared, according to today’s status, however, just under three quarters of a year later on 01 May 2010. This was titled: “Wackel Dackel mit Monika (DieAussenseiter)” and was a kind of sketch video.

The news video category was not initially Phil’s goal at all. In the early days of the channel, he mainly published short films and self-produced comedy sketches. However, as time went on, Phil began to specialize in the YouTube News category, as these videos were very well received on his channel at the time. The main reason for this was probably that he opened up a new field in Germany with this category and thus had virtually no competition. Through his news videos, in which he reported on the various events in the German YouTube scene, Phil himself was able to make contact with several other colleagues very quickly. This contact then usually resulted in his viewership increasing significantly due to viewers from the other channel, which Phil and his channel could only benefit from.

The format which attracted the most attention on the channel “MrTrashpack” was “WuzzUp”. This format appeared once a week at the time. Although this was always scheduled for Monday, it also appeared several times on the other days of the week. This is also the reason why the intro of the format is available in different versions. The first episode of “WuzzUp” was released on February 21, 2011 and has been part of the channel’s permanent content ever since. Furthermore, he regularly awarded the so-called “Win and Fail of the Week” for the best and the “worst” performance of the week in the format.
In addition to “WuzzUp”, several other formats have appeared and continue to appear, such as “WuzzUp-Feedback”, “GoodToKnow”, “TrashTalk” and several others.

Despite all the positive things, however, it should also be mentioned that the channel “MrTrashpack” has now lost a significant number of active viewers. But this could be mainly due to the fact that there is now a very large competition in this category and so it is very difficult to keep yourself. The channel’s videos are currently “only” generating up to 30,000 views.

Phil doesn’t let this slump get him down, though. He continues to release several new videos weekly and also runs a vlog channel called “Phil”. On his main channel “MrTrashpack” he managed to acquire over 667,000 subscribers in spite of everything.
