Due to the German drug policy, all drugs are illegal and therefore not suitable for ingestion. However, it is probably clear to everyone that one can still get hold of and consume all drugs in a roundabout way. The YouTube channel “OPEN MIND” has been dealing with the topic of drugs for years and regularly publishes videos about it. Nevertheless, only a few of the viewers might know who is behind the channel “OPEN MIND”.
The protagonist of the channel’s real name is Simon Ruane and he was born on 07 January 1990. This means that Simon is now already 30 years old. Simon himself lives in the Bavarian city of Munich and is a self-confessed drug user. Thus, he also possesses a medical prescription and is thus entitled to legally consume cannabis.
On his channel “OPEN MIND” he deals exclusively with the topic of drugs. Due to his personal conviction, he is an opponent of the German drug policy and favours the Portuguese way of dealing with the issue. His videos are intended to educate, inform and entertain his viewers about different drugs and their consumption. In this way he clearly serves the genre of so-called “infotainment”.
Simon personally is a clear advocate of the legalisation or decriminalisation of all drugs along Portuguese lines. In his videos he also criticizes German politics and German laws on the subject of drugs.
Simon founded his channel “OPEN MIND” on March 20, 2014. The first video on it appeared just two days later on March 22, 2014 and was titled: “Riding more dangerous than ecstasy? – DROGENNEWS #1 – note pinned comment”. Since that day he regularly publishes new videos about drugs on “OPEN MIND”. Among them are also several videos which he himself calls “trip reports”. In these videos he describes his experiences with different drugs and tells how it feels to use these drugs.
Furthermore, Simon also publishes videos on his channel, which deal with the topic of consciousness expansion and the effect of drugs. It also includes topics such as how to achieve similar experiences to taking drugs with legal means. In all his videos, however, he always emphasizes how dangerous the use of drugs is and that this should in no way encourage people to copy them.
Even before the “OPEN MIND” channel, Simon ran a few other channels which, however, were set up and structured differently in terms of content.
Nowadays, new videos appear weekly on the “OPEN MIND” channel. Due to the socially very controversial drug in Germany, he polarizes with his videos very much, which can help him in the end only to eiern increase his fame. Today, the “OPEN MIND” channel already has well over 472,000 subscribers, with a clear upward trend.
