PietSmiet

If you look around in the area of gaming and Lets Plays in Germany, you inevitably can’t avoid one group. We are talking about “PietSmiet”, of course.

They represent a group of now five members who post regular videos on their main channel. But how did everything start around “PietSmiet” ?

In 2007, the channel’s namesake Peter, real name Peter Georg Smits, founded the channel “PietSmiet”. At the beginning he published there alone, personal videos which at that time mainly concerned his high school graduation. However, many of them can no longer be viewed today. In 2011 he published the first videos which had to do with gaming. Beside the main channel there are several other channels which do not deal with gaming. Behind all the channels is the PietsmietUG founded by Peter and Brammen, whose real name is Dennis Brammen.

Besides the founding members Peter and Dennis there are some more members in the team “PietSmiet”. Dennis Brammen was born on 28 March 1988 and is therefore already 31 years old. Another member is Chris, whose real name is Christian Stachelhaus. He’s on 4 October 1984 and therefore 34 years old. Jay whose real name is Jonathan William Moritz Apelt was born on 31 May 1989 and is therefore 30 years old. Finally, the current team PietSmiet still includes Sep. His real name is Sebastian Lenßen and he was born on 5. December 1988 born and therefore 30 years old. However, it is still worth mentioning that this is not the full team behind Team PietSmiet. Besides the five members there was Hardi, whose real name is Dennis Hardtwig and who was born on 8 March 1989. On the channel PietSmiet he was for a long time an active part of all gaming formats as well as the format “PietSmietKocht” which was published on the channel “PietSmietTV”. However, on October 7, 2015, a video was published on the channel “PietSmiet” in which it was announced that Hardi will leave “PietSmiet” and would like to work on his own channel Hardi in the future. Since that day he has been doing the same and has been quite successful with it. Beside Hardi there are some other persons, who do not belong to “PietSmiet” at all. Thus, all other “side channels” have all the employees who are responsible for the production as well as the post-processing and publication of the videos.

Also the enormous live presence of “PietSmiet” is not to be disregarded. Regular streams on Twitch and YouTube are therefore part of the routine of the four guys. But they have also taken part in numerous big live events. Among them are several Lets Play Poker events, Last Man Standing or Friendly Fire. Furthermore, the guys already went on tour twice, in 2015 and in 2018, during which they offered their fans live entertainment.

The channel as well as the content of “Pietsmiet” has not changed much over the years. On the main channel, as a team, they have been offering ever-changing games since 2011. Among them are games like Minecraft, but also games like GTA 5 Online, which are very popular with their fans. Meanwhile they have reached a number of over 2,300,000 subscribers, which they try to entertain daily with several videos.
