The somewhat older of today’s YouTube viewers should be very familiar with the television station “MTV” and the formats broadcast on it. One of these very well-known and quite popular formats of the TV channel, was the game show “GameOne”. When the station decided to discontinue the German-language channel a few years ago, it came as an absolute shock to many fans and viewers. However, the channel “Rocket Beans TV” was able to profit significantly from this bankruptcy and was able to more than increase their popularity. But who or what is actually behind the channel and the content produced on it?

Generally speaking, “Rocket Beans TV” is a German-language livestream channel, which is available on YouTube as well as on Twitch. The production company of this channel is the television and media production company “Rocket Beans Entertainment GmbH”, based in Hamburg. The special thing about this company is that it was created parallel to the television broadcast of the show “GameOne”. Thus, Serviceh the “Rocket Beans TV” channel and the “GameOne” show run under the same production company.

The founders of the channel as well as the company are Daniel Budimann, Nils Bomhoff, Etienne Gardé and Simon Krätschmar. These names then also give rise to the word Beans, which is included in Serviceh the channel and company names(Budi, Etienne, Nils, Simon). The four young men founded the company together with managing director Arno Heinisch on 14 June 2012. Also on June 14, 2012, the YouTube channel “Rocket Beans TV” was founded. However, in the beginning the focus of the production company was less on the channel and more on the TV show “GameOne”. It was only after the TV show ended that the focus was clearly on the channel. The special thing about the YouTube channel was that a wider range of topics could be included than in “GameOne”. So the focus on the channel, besides the games themselves, is also on gaming culture, film, television and a few topics more.

Another and the most important feature of the YouTube channel “Rocket Beans TV” is that this channel is virtually a permanent Internet channel on which a permanent offer is available. However, this offer is not only limited to the videos but is implemented in the form of a permanent livestream. Initially, this livestream was only broadcast on the Twitch channel, but the focus is now clearly on the YouTube channel and the live broadcast on it.

In addition to the permanent livestream on this channel, several videos are released during the day. These are then mostly highlights or individual excerpts from the livestream. The first video on the channel “Rocket Beans TV” was thus released on August 27, 2012. This one was titled, “Game One on YouTube: RocketbeansTV”. So it becomes clear that the initial idea was just to continue the TV show “GameOne”. This did not pose a problem because the same production company was behind Serviceh formats.

The main actors of the channel are five founders and a few more people who joined in the course of time. However, in order to be able to implement this concept, a few people are by no means enough. The canal alone employs well over 30 people in a wide variety of roles.

This concept of the channel clearly seems to work. For example, the “Rocket Beans TV” channel has well over 528,000 subscribers on YouTube alone.
