In a somewhat boring situation, everyone has most likely looked for a so-called “10 Facts About …” or “The Top 10 …” Video wanted. In this search, everyone relatively quickly comes across the channel with the name “TopTen”. However, almost no one knows how this channel actually came into being and who or what is actually behind this channel.

The channel “TopZehn” was the German language channel which was run under the network “Mediakraft”. Within this channel, so-called “TopTen” lists of all things were kept.

The channel “TopZehn” was founded on 24 July 2012 and is therefore one of the older channels in the German YouTube scene. It also provided the German-language counterpart to the British format “AllTime10s” which was produced by the network “DiagonalView”.

The author of the channel “TopZehn” is known until today only under the name Robert, from which also his stage name “RobTen”. Robert himself was also the voice behind the videos of the channel “TopZehn” and produced the videos that appeared on the channel with the help of the network “MediaKraft”.

Often the topics on the German-language channel were the same as on the English-language channel that emerged. However, topics were also chosen for the videos, which were only suitable for the German-speaking audience and should only entertain them.

As the name of the channel already suggests, the videos of the channel “TopZEhN” are top ten lists of all topics. Beside some very informative videos there are also some contents, which are to be classified in the category “useless knowledge”.

In the course of time, however, this channel also underwent some changes. Initially, the facts of the respective videos were only faded in. However, the then already existing and yet quite considerable audience, wanted more personality in the videos. So “RobTen” finally decided to comment on his videos from the so-called “off” and thus give them more personality. This is how the video with the title: “10 strange allergies” was created, which was commented for the first time afterwards.

Furthermore it has to be mentioned that Robert could already bring some experience into the channel. Before founding the channel, he already worked as a cameraman, author and editor for several television stations. Furthermore, he is a trained voice actor, which made his job on the channel much easier.

In 2014, the channel “TopZehn” was also nominated for the Web Video Award. In addition, “MediaKraft” and “DiagonalView” launched the same format in the same year, also in Dutch, Polish and Russian. At the time, this was the first format to be offered in five different languages.

At that time, one video appeared on the channel twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The most successful video on the channel “TopTen” is titled: “The 10 stupidest deaths” and was published on 03 May 2013. Today, this video already has over 6 million views. Two more parts followed, but they couldn’t keep up with the success of the first part.

However, there has been no new content on the channel since late 2018. The latest video so far was released on November 27, 2018 and is titled: “The 10 Most Dangerous Borders!”.
If you take a look at the channel “TopZehn” today, you will see that this channel already has well over 1.7 million subscribers and can represent this success well. However, there has been no new content on the channel since 2018.
