“Hey Together.” This greeting coupled with a very disguised voice can only point to one thing for all the fans and those who know him. We are referring to the German-speaking YouTuber and Lets Player “GermanLetsPlay”, of course. He can currently count more than 3,096,000 subscribers on his main channel, who regularly watch his videos with great excitement. But who is behind the artificial figure called “GermanLetsPlay” and what has his YouTube career been like?

Only little is known about the person behind the artificial figure. This is mainly because he does not show his appearance or persona in any of his videos. This limits the possibilities for content, as, for example, vlogs are not possible, but on the other hand greatly protects his private life and persona in private. It is known, however, that his real name is Manuel, but his last name is unknown and he apparently remains anonymous. It is also known that he was born on February 9, 1992 and is therefore 27 years old. In addition, it is known that he has four siblings, two of whom are also active on YouTube under the synonyms “Debitor” and “SibstLP”. However, unlike Manuel, his brother “Debitor” is listed on YouTube, which also gives a glimpse of what he looks like.

He founded his then channel called “GermanLetsPlay” on February 28, 2010. His focus on this channel was already clearly on Lets Plays that revolved mainly around the game Minecraft. However, he also received there very quickly two so-called strikes for copyright infringement. In order to have an alternative option in case of a third strike, he founded another channel on November 13, 2010, which at that time was still called “GermanLetsFail”. In addition, in September 2010 he founded a channel called “GermanLetsTrash” in which he wanted to publish all videos with possible copyright infringements. Despite careful work on the then main channel “GermanLetsPlay”, he overlooked a copyright-protected video, which led to the third channel strike. As usual on YouTube, a channel is banned after receiving a third strike, which meant he could not post videos there for the time being. So he eventually switched to his second channel “GermanLetsFail” and ran it very regularly. Two years after the third strike, the channel was unblocked in 2012, after some consultation with YouTube. However, in the meantime Manuel was able to accumulate a large number of subscribers on his channel “GermanLetsFail”, so he decided not to reactivate the channel “GermanLetsPlay” in addition to the bureaucratic effort. When it was then possible to rename the channel in 2013, he did so and briefly changed “GermanLetsFail” to “GermanLetsPlay”. Already on December 04, 2014, he reached with exactly this channel already one million subscribers, which he could already more than triple until today.
